Malcolm Boulter

Malcolm studied and trained in the STOTT PILATES® Method and attained Full Certification as an instructor in late 2007. He is member the Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) and from August 2011 to September 2014 served on the association’s national committee. The PAA is an independent and not-for-profit regulatory association established by the Pilates industry.

Before opening the Pilates on Pines studio in 2008 Malcolm worked as an instructor in a Melbourne Pilates studio, conducting group classes in mat, reformer, and studio Pilates . His main focus and passion for Pilates is client rehabilitation.

Since 2008 Malcolm has researched and studied exercise treatment approaches to manage scoliosis, a chronic condition for which at this point in time there is no cure; the Schroth Method is a conservative exercise therapy approach for the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis. In October 2014, together with Kit Laughlin and Olivia Allnutt, Malcolm successfully completed an intensive Schroth Therapist scoliosis training program at the Asklepios-Katharina Schroth Clinic in Bad Sobernheim, Germany. In May 2016 Malcolm returned to the Schroth Clinic Germany for further studies and training in adolescent and adult idiopathic scoliosis. Malcolm is authorised to practice in Schroth 3-Dimensional Scoliosis Therapy According to Katharina Schroth®.

Malcolm also has accreditation in Stretch Therapy™ as both a Stretch Therapist and Stretch Teacher. Stretch Therapy, developed in Australia over the past 25 years by Kit Laughlin, is now practiced in numerous countries throughout the world. Stretch Therapy focuses on the rehabilitation of specific physical problems, through to the development of more efficient alignment and movement patterns in individuals. Malcolm’s involvement with the Stretch Therapy community fits well with his interest and passion for helping individuals suffering with idiopathic scoliosis.
