Sanja Schreiber Ph.D.
As a clinical research scientist with a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science, an M.Sc. in Sports Medicine and Kinesitherapy, a B.Sc. in Kinesitherapy and Physical Education, and a Postdoctorate in Health Outcomes Research, Dr. Schreiber is dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities for children and adults living with scoliosis. During her Ph.D. program, she conducted the world’s first rigorous randomized controlled trial on Schroth exercises for adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis, significantly influencing global non-surgical treatment practices.
Dr. Schreiber is an Adjunct Professor of Physical Therapy in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. She is also the Owner/Director of Curvy Spine – Scoliosis & Kyphosis Rehabilitation Centre, which focuses exclusively on the care of patients with spinal deformities and the training of physiotherapists in scoliosis-specific rehabilitation. Dr. Schreiber has treated over 1,000 patients with spinal deformities and has trained more than 300 physiotherapists across 11 countries and 5 continents.
Dr. Schreiber has received multiple academic awards and grant funding for her research and has published extensively in the field of scoliosis. She has held active leadership roles with the International Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT) and the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), two leading organizations dedicated to advancing scoliosis care. As a member of the SOSORT Guidelines Committee in 2016, she co-led the development of global clinical guidelines for scoliosis. In her professional capacity, Dr. Schreiber is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences and meetings, having delivered over 30 invited talks on these esteemed platforms.
Dr Schreiber’s goal is to raise awareness about scoliosis through dedicated education and research, and to strengthen collaborative initiatives among scoliosis practitioners to provide the best care for people living with scoliosis and other spinal disorders.
On a personal note, Sanja is a proud mother of three children.
